The Europe Day Picnic in Cambridge on Sunday 13th May has been cancelled due to the forecast for rain from Saturday afternoon until Sunday afternoon.

If you are still looking for a way to celebrate Europe Day, there’s a Polish Heritage Day event happening in Cambridge Guildhall on Sunday 13th, where there will be food, music and dancing…and all indoors!

On Sunday May 13th 2018 we’re having a picnic on Jesus Green to celebrate Europe Day. Come join us!

Europe Day is an annual celebration of peace and unity across the EU.The day itself is on May 9th but as this is a weekday we are holding the picnic on the 13th, which is the first Sunday following the day itself. On the 9th of May itself we’re joining the Cambridge University European Society who will be holding a parade of punts down the Cam, while we wave flags from the bridges.

We aim to meet on Jesus Green, near the Lower Park Street entrance. There is also the Maypole Pub nearby which we can adjourn to in the (hopefully unlikely…but let’s be realistic!) event that it rains.

This will be a totally informal event, no stall, no sales, no stage & no speeches, just good cheer and good company. So bake cakes, bring food, bring drink, bring games, bring flags, bring music, bring your friends and family, wear EU-themed clothes and accessories, and let’s all have a great afternoon!

For more information about the national initiative, visit: http://www.europeday.org.uk/

In 2017 Europe Day picnics were held in about 10 towns and cities across the UK. For 2018, it has been adopted nationally by Britain for Europe, the European Movement and Open Britain, and we’re hoping that there will be more than 50 picnics across the UK!

PLEASE INVITE YOUR FRIENDS WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED TO THIS PICNIC!
