On 11 January 2017 two hundred people packed into the Emmanuel United Reformed church to take part in a discussion on the implications of Brexit for citizens of other EU countries who are living here, and what they can do to to secure their rights here.

The expert panel for the discussion was Dr Stephanie Reynolds, an expert in EU Constitutional law and EU Citizenship at the University of Liverpool, Anne-Laure Donskoy of The 3 Million, a group that campaigns for the rights of EU nationals living in the UK, and Owen James of Doyle Clayton Solicitors Limited.

Each of our panelists gave a short presentation, after which the discussion was opened up to the audience for an hour.

The discussion highlighted the huge uncertainty and worry that the Brexit vote has caused for EU nationals living in the EU (and for UK citizens living in other EU member states), a situation exacerbated by the governments confused and sometimes hostile handling of such a delicate situation.

The meeting was covered by Cambridge News and the BBC (link no longer available), and Cambridge Stays chair Paul Browne was interviewed by Cambridge 105 before the meeting. Owen James also wrote a short online report on the meeting.
