On the evening of 28 June 2016 – just days after the disastrous referendum in which the UK voted by the narrowest of margins to leave the UK – a sea of umbrellas appeared outside the Guildhall in Cambridge as hundreds of people gathered despite the pouring rain to say that they would not accept this damaging decision, and that they would campaign to reverse it.

The public meeting had been organised by Cambridge residents Lauren Coad and Cecilia Sandrini, who were taken aback by the turnout, and with that Cambridge Stays was born!

Speakers at the rally included Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner (Labour Party), City Council leader Lewis Herbert (Labour Party), former Cambridge MP Julian Huppert (Liberal Deomcrats), Stuart Tuckworth (Greens), Professor Roger Barker of the University of Cambridge, and several others.

You can watch a Youtube video of the rally here.
