On 9 September more than 50,000 people took to the streets of central London to as part of The People’s March for Europe,  and a band of Cambridge Stays supporters were there to join the party! As Parliament debates the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill it was the right time to tell them that the best choice is to stop Brexit and find real solutions to the problems many in the UK face instead.

The official slogan of the march may have been “Unite, Rethink & Reject Brexit”, but as we made our way towards Parliament Square the marchers themselves were more direct, with chants such as “Exit from Brexit”, “David Davis just confess, Brexit is a bloody mess!” and “B******s to Brexit!”.

Parliament Square soon filled up, and the rally kicked off on a musical note with the No.10 Vigil groups “faux Boris”, before the serious business began with passionate speeches from Julie Ward MEP, Sir Ed Davey MP, Madeleina Kay of the Young European Movement, Tom Brake MP, Jolyon Maugham QC, Seb Dance MEP, Dr Mike Galsworthy, Jean Lambert MEP, Elena Remigi & Dr Véronique Martin from The3million and many others from across the political spectrum.

All in all it was an excellent day’s campaigning, and it was good to see it subsequently covered by so many news outlets. and it was great to also see so many EU flags flying where they belong next to the UK flag, as they also were at the Last Night of the Proms just a few hours later.

Well done to everyone involved!
