On Thursday 8 February members of Cambridge Stays held a demonstration outside the Cambridge Union on Bridge Street, Cambridge , where a debate on Brexit featuring Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, Lord Andrew Adonis, Nicky Morgan MP, and others took place. The debate was between hard Brexit and soft Brexit, so we decided to remind attendees that there was another option…NO BREXIT!

They seemed to listen, because in a vote during the debate two-thirds of attendees voted to Remain in the EU! We also handed out hundreds of leaflets to the attendees, participants in the LGBT “Kiss in” protest against Jacob Rees-Mogg that was taking place alongside ours, and members of the public who were passing by.

Out protest was reported in the student newspapers Varsity and The Cambridge Student,  and Tab TV, and also by the Daily Heil…who reported we were “furious” but seem disappointed that most debate attendees agreed with us!

A very big thank you to everyone who joined us on a chilly Thursday evening!
